The pile of board games I have purchased is both bigger and better than this pile.
I recently went on a game buying binge… well, more of a game pre-ordering binge. To be fair, I have not been spending my monthly allocated board game budget for a fair while, so this is not anything financially dangerous. It is, however, totally ridiculous. It will take me months to play all of these new games. But between pre-order discounts, item scarcity and exciting new releases, I have managed to order fourteen new board games and expansions!
Order number one: Bezier Games
Ted Alspach recently announced his new Age of Steam maps for Essen, published by his company named Bezier Games. Since I am a sucker for new AoS maps (and since he offered a very reasonable price and a few exclusive items) I went for it! Included is the following:
Age of Steam Expansion – 1867 Georgia Reconstruction, South Carolina & Oklahoma Land Rush
Age of Steam Expansion – Alabama Railways, Antebellum Louisiana & Four Corners
Age of Steam Expansion – Beer & Pretzels
Beer & Pretzels: Purple Coaster Expansion
Order number two: Game Surplus
I love Game Surplus and always order new releases from them if possible. They have wonderful prices, top notch service and carry a lot of great imported games. I have had a pre-order with them for a while (waiting on the Pandemic expansion to ship) that includes these games:
Even crazier, I am thinking of adding a few more to this list once it is ready to ship. Clearly, I have a problem.
Order number three: Miniature Market
When the new edition of Space Hulk was announced I immediately pre-ordered it. I found an excellent deal through Miniature Market. I have purchased Monsterpocalypse singles from them in the past and have been impressed by their quick shipping and excellent prices.
Order number four: Boards and Bits
I only order from Boards and Bits on occasion, even though they are an excellent online retailer. My orders with them occur when they have exclusive items that I cannot get anywhere else. This order is no exception; all the items in my list are either exclusive or out of print (although I did also purchase some little baggies for game bits). Here they are:
Age of Steam Expansion – Brazil / Chicago
Age of Steam Expansion – Eastern US & Canada
As you can see, I clearly have gone nuts with game purchases. I have decided that this should be enough for the rest of the year. The games and expansions I have ordered here are more than most people have in their entire game collections. Perhaps I should get rid of an equal amount to make room for the new… this could be the topic of a future post.
